To celebrate the the 36th birthday of the Dragon Quest series in Japan, Square Enix launched the original Dragon Quest Builders ($27.99) on mobile as a premium release with some optional paid DLC. Dragon Quest Builders originally released on PS4 and PS Vita in North America a few years ago. I loved how it blended Minecraft with Dragon Quest. The iOS release had some issues at launch, but was still worth getting. Read my review of it here. Today, one of the biggest issues has been addressed with the 1.1.0 update that is out now. Dragon Quest Builders now has cloud save support. On iOS, it uses iCloud saving for manually uploading and downloading your progress. I verified it works on my iPad and iPhone right now. Watch the Dragon Quest Builders mobile trailer below:
When Dragon Quest Builders hit mobile, it had a launch discount bringing it down to $21.99. It is down to that same price again until September 19th. After that, it will go back up to $27.99. Check out Dragon Quest Builders on the App Store for iOS here and Google Play for Android here. Hopefully we get improved controller support and better optimization for the game on newer iOS devices in potential future updates. Square Enix rarely fixes or improves its premium mobile ports, so this cloud save support is nice to see. Check out our forum thread for the game here. Have you played Dragon Quest Builders before or will you be jumping into one of the best spin-off Dragon Quest games yet on mobile today?
