Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. I had a tough time gathering up a good list today, friends. It probably doesn’t help that I am ultra-omega-tired. Well, nothing I can do about it. I managed to find a suitable bunch in the end, and that is the main thing. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
MARVEL Future Fight, Free There was nothing more late 90s than adding the word ‘Forever‘ to a title. One of the better ones was a limited series from Marvel Comics called Avengers Forever. I think this update is based on it, but only in a loose sense. You get new uniforms for Iron Man, Black Widow, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), and Blade. There’s also a new Giant Boss Raid against Dormammu, a Tier-4 Iron Man, a Tier-3 Blade, and Potential Transcended forms for Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Wasp (Nadia Pym), and Nova (Sam Alexander). Well, probably not based on the comics, but good enough.
Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, Free New Disney Heroes characters? I sleep. No, really. Sleeping Beauty is the Disney movie that today’s characters are drawn from. I swear, it’s one of the only Disney movies where everyone remembers the villain and barely anyone remembers the forces of good. Anyway, it’s Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip. Not that one. Add them to your team and maybe you can make your foes doze off? I’m not sure how any of this works. There are also some bug fixes and other little improvements.
Toon Blast, Free Let’s head for the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle update early this week. You can tell Shaun is tired today because it is Toon Blast time again. There are fifty new levels to play, as usual. The title this time is the rather mysterious Strike in a Row episode. I have no idea what that would be. Bowling? Baseball? Labor compensation disagreements? The notes don’t elaborate, and I’m not going to play the several thousand levels between me and the latest ones to find out.
LEGO® Star Warsâ„¢: Castaways, Last time this game got updated, we had a Solo event. Working down the list, it’s clearly time for a Rogue One-themed event. Ha, remember when we not only had regular new film entries in the main series, but also had spin-off movies going? Wild times. Play the event, get the minifig parts, face some new enemies like Death Troopers and Shoretroopers, and check out the new Leaderboard feature. Seriously, the weirdest desert island ever.
Disney Magic Kingdoms, Free Yes, this one updated too. The latest event sees the Rescuers come to the game. If you don’t know them, you should give their movies a watch. They’re not half-bad. And now Statler and Waldorf are saying they aren’t half-good, either. Keep it quiet up there in that balcony, guys. We’re trying to do a show here. Anyway, there’s a new attraction, a new concession, and plenty of fun to come as this is only part one.
Angry Birds Reloaded, The little storyline about the Mighty Eagle trying to find Zeta is continuing in this latest update for the Apple Arcade reload of Angry Birds. Explore forty-five levels set in mysterious caves, smashing anything that gets in your way. Mighty Eagle would do anything for love. Anything. But he won’t do that. You know what. I’m not even going to tell you, because you know exactly what that is. Obviously, I do too. Yes.
Hearthstone, Free Diablo Immortal is out now and obviously commanding a lot of attention as far as Blizzard mobile games go, but Hearthstone isn’t just twiddling its thumbs either. The Throne of the Tides mini-set has arrived, adding thirty-five all-new cards to the game. That includes two new Colossal Legendary minions that should fit nicely into many strategies. There are also eighteen new Mercenaries, more than a dozen new Bounties, and a whole lot of little improvements and fixes.
World Flipper, Free World Flipper is a neat game, and I sometimes forget that it’s actually out in the West these days. But it is! A person could just go and download it, if that is to their liking. Such fancy delights in this wacky world of ours. New update! There are some new challenge single battles, the second Mana Board has been opened, and the Zombieland collaboration has officially kicked off. There are also a bunch of little improvements, as we tend to see over the course of a game’s initial year in the market.
The Battle of Polytopia, Free The Battle of Polytopia has received a pretty major update this time around. Like various bits of balancing! Exciting, right? I think we all appreciate a good balancing. Okay, okay. There is more in the bag. Let me shuffle things around here. Yes, we have some new Diplomacy Tech. Peace treaties, invisible Cloak units, infiltrating Dagger units, Embassies, Capital Vision, and Tribe Relations. Lots of new tricks and tools at your fingertips. And that’s all. But don’t forget the balancing.
Genshin Impact, Free Well, let’s wrap things up. Genshin Impact. Coveted UMMSotW award. Boom. Okay, I’m heading home. Wait, I have to tell you what is in this update, right? The Hidden Dreams in the Depths update is here, with new characters in the form of Yelan and Kuki Shinobu, some new events, new stories, and a couple of dapper new weapons. I’ll hit you with the names, because they are always cool. Aqua Simulacra and Fading Twilight. You could shout those out as you’re battling your foes and sound like the coolest chuunibyou ever.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
